Things that bore me...

White man denied entrance into the Tennessee Congressional Black Caucus.

There's a side of me, my rational Martin Luther King Jr side, that says that this is an abandonment of the Dream, and if I were in government I'd definately push to get him installed...

But there's another side of me, my Charlie Murphy side, that says, F-ck this fool.

Fact: This is the first time a white man has been denied entrance into any group in Tennessee. True story, look it up.

Of course, if you phrase it this way - "Representative of majority black district denied entrace to group specifically set up to address the needs of black constituents" - which is completely accurate, as I understand things - it starts to look like something that might matter a little.

Here's hoping a Black Republican opposes this guy in 2008 and uses his ability to join the CBC as part of his reasoning why he'd be a more effective representative.

After reading your response I was reminded about David Yassky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Yassky), a white Democratic canidate who, in 2006, ran for Brooklyn 11th Congressional district seat which is in a predominately black area. The black canidate Yvette Clarke won but the contest was marred by a ton of anti-white racism. It was pretty disgusting.

One thing you have to understand about Afican Americans is that there is a certain level of distrust of all whites (and yes, on a certain level that includes Bill Clinton (I've always been struck by the irony when white people call him the first black president)) and that distrust often (possibly in the Tenn CBC case) causes blacks to "shoot themselves in the foot" when they deny a honest white a chance to represent them in order to hold on to their percieved power. I can't say whether it's right or wrong. I don't have all the facts at my fingertips, but I do understand the situation.

Personally I'm hoping a black Democrat runs against him, but Obama can't be everywhere :P
