Maybe the problem in our political debate is "contrary-iness", but it's probably the just the commodification of ideas. Pundits, bloggers, journalists, and so on have to fill virtual pages to draw attention to themselves and they have to do it fast, and alot, so they have to come up with shit that's going to get hits and links. Whether or not that happens to be true or make sense doesn't matter, as long as people will read it, send it out to their buddies, or post it up on facebook.
I don't see this changing for at least...well for a long time.
PS: Irony of the day--blogger's spell check doesn't recognize the word "bloggers". And for some reason this really bugs me. I need a beer.
